The following resources are used by various institutions in conjunction with Horizon Study Share to assist in the management of image-based knowledge for education and research. RadPix: A tool for efficiently generating powerpoint presentations from DICOM images. Includes a DICOM server, and an interface to publish cases directly to Horizon Study Share. 20/20: This free screen capture utility is used by many institutions to capture images from their PACS workstation for uploading into Horizon Study Share. VolView: A tool for easily generating interactive 3D visualizations from image stacks. The 3D visualizations are particularly effective for conveying the spatial structure of the anatomical and pathological findings in teaching files. Structured Reporting: An overview of emerging technologies for transforming how radiologists report findings. Structured reports will be key enablers in the evolution of radiology education and research. For example, they can automatically be transformed into teaching files, using the underlying structure as an index. RadLex: A detailed hierarchical lexicon for encoding radiology findings and related concepts. Can be used as a mechanism for the structured annotation, retrieval, and linking of teaching files. Elastic Desktop: An application for easily managing multiple windows on the desktop, especially useful for authoring cases from multiple sources. XRayLinks.com: Index of online radiology resources. |
