previously visited 061121 TRACHEAL TEAR AFTER SEVERE COUGH Random Case

Patient: 11 year old male
History: Cough; Short of breath

Findings: 1. Linear air densities along superior mediastinum and
   continuation with bilateral deep cervical spaces,
   in favor of air leak.
2. Recommendation: Further evaluation with tracheal CT to
   exclude foreign body aspiration, if clinical necessary.
3. Spontaneous tracheal tear after severe cough may be
   considered if no known trauma history and foreign body.
Diagnosis: Tracheal tear after severe cough (No history of foreign body aspiration or trauma).
Comments: post a comment

Most patients of spontaneous tracheal tear received conservative treatment.

CT scan may not necessary if we are sure that no foreign body aspiration.
