Findings:

Adjacent to the right ovary is an abnormal tubular structure with a blind end which represents a thickwalled appendix with increased blood flow. Appendix measures 1.1 cm with the wall measuring 6 mm.

Diagnosis: Appendicitis
Discussion: Criteria for diagnosis of appendicitis on U/S:  1) Aperistaltic blind ending tubular structure originating from the cecum >6 mm or with fecolith 2) Wall thickness > 3 mm.  Other signs include a hyperemic wall by Doppler and relative non compressibility.  In the setting of appendicitis always look for perforation/abscess
