Findings: Thickening and signal change in the distal patellar ligament. There is edema in the infrapatellar fat pad and anterolateral proximal tibial epiphysis. A 7mm area of increased signal intensity is seen in the bone of the tibial tuberosity apophysis, which suggest slight superior avulsion of the small ossicles from the developing ossification center.
Diagnosis: Osgood-Schlatter Disease
Discussion: Traumatically induced disruption of the attachment of the patellar ligament to the tibial tuberosity (no osteonecrosis); bilateral in 25%
