| Findings: CT scan: 1. Diffuse soft tissue swelling of loose connective layer of scalp, compatible with caput succedaneum. (Fig.1) 2. Focal crescent high attenuation fluid fixed to left parietal bone, may due to small subdural or epidural hematoma. (Fig.2) 3. Much fluid accumulation in loose areolar layer of scalp, in favor of subgaleal hematoma. (Fig.3,4) 4. Focal crescent high attenuation fluid in subperiosteal space of left parietal bone, in favor of extracranial cephalohematoma. (Fig.3,4)
MRI (2weeks later): 1. Focal crescent intermediate short T1 fluid in subperiosteal space of left parietal bone, suggesting extracranial cephalohematoma. (Fig.5) 2. Some short T1 fluid accumulation in loose areolar layer of scalp, in favor of subgaleal hematoma. (Fig.5) 3. A 1.2x0.5x0.4cm small long T2 lesion in anterior portion of left parietal subcortical region, in favor of encephalomalacia from previous brain injury. (Fig.6) |
